Hey guys, over the next couple of days, starting with today, I'm going to be dropping depositions in the case where I represent HBO Matt, Brandon White, and Melanie Treble. This concerns two small towns in East Texas, uh, Livingston police officers, and there's also a tie-in to, uh, the city of Corgan as well, which is neighboring to Livingston. Essentially, a couple of years ago, essentially a couple of years ago, uh they were about to protest the city of Corgan over some arrests involving uh Brandon White, Philip Turner, and so they were going to put together some protest signs to do that. And while in Livingston at Melany's house, uh, HBO Matt went out to the car to get some more poster board, uh, and he had a suppressor. He had a he had a handgun with a suppressor attached. Uh, it was holstered. He walked out. Someone freaked out, called 911. Uh, Livingston police officers arrived in droves. There were a ton of them. Uh, but they ultimately, even though they challenged HBO Matt, they wanted to see his paperwork. They wanted him to step out. They even threatened to tow his vehicle if he didn't step out of the house. Uh they never had a warrant. He told them to go get a warrant, but in the end, they ultimately decided uh there was no crime being committed. That's what they told the 911 callers as well. So, they left. Now, I'm going to be doing a full breakdown on this, but I wanted to provide some context for the deposition videos you're about to see over the next coming days. And but second incident was later that same day as the HBO Matt firearm issue. Uh they go to Corgan. Uh nothing really happens. They come back. They follow Officer Simmons around who is on patrol at the time in the city of Livingston. Officer Simmons doesn't like it. So he decides that he's going to initiate a traffic stop. He stops them. He wants them all to identify. He eventually realizes that Brandon White's in the vehicle. He's like, "Oh, yeah. I know you." Uh, he didn't care that they were armed. He made that abundantly clear. Uh, they were never charged with anything. And, uh, he ended up letting them go. Well, once the police chief, Chief Parish, discovered this, these two incidents involved the same people and he knew what was going on with Corgan because he had discussions with the Corgan police chief. uh Parish uh with Livingston PD decided he was going to talk to the DA, the district attorney about trying to charge these guys with felonies. Once the DA indicated, yeah, they shouldn't be allowed to do what they did, whatever it is that is, uh Parish basically directed his two detectives to write up uh identical search warrant affidavites or sorry, arrest warrant affidavit for felony charges. And so that's what they did. Um, these detectives testified, as you'll see, that they never uh spoke with any of the officers on scene. Remember, all the officers on the scene determined there was no crime that was committed. Uh, no arrests were made. Uh, no citations were issued. But once the police chief directed his detectives to go ahead and write these things because the district attorney will accept them, uh, that's what they did. And so they wrote identical affidavits. All the affidavits are exactly the same. The only difference is the name they filled in, right? They swapped out HBO Matt for Brandon White for Melie Treble. So uh as a result of these arrest warrants, they were all arrested uh held on substantial bonds, I think in excess of $100,000. Obviously Melanie was separated from her kids as a result. They had these felony charges hanging over them for quite some time and then eventually the charges were dismissed. We filed the lawsuit and uh the judge in that civil rights case uh granted qualified immunity to all the officers involved and so we now must appeal. So you're going to hear more from HBO Matt talk about it. Maybe Brandon White again. I'm going to release my video as well. But uh I want to be clear as well. I represented these guys. Uh they didn't have to pay me anything. Uh I handled the case for years, hundreds and hundreds of hours. I spent my own money, fronted the case. But now when we appeal from a losing case, that changes the dynamics. So there is a cost sharing requirement if they want me to handle the appeal, uh which they elected they wanted me to do. So uh there is a GoFundMe. I'm also going to link that as well. And that's going to be for their share uh for the appeal, not mine. It's going to be for their share uh to help share in the cost, right? There's filing fees, uh print fees, travel costs, uh and and of course just we have to pay uh precise attention to the appeal process uh to make sure we're putting forth the best possible argument.
