I wanted to get some re-entry information for something I'm thinking about working on on the side, and they called the police on us for being there. We had a property manager who was a complete tyrant. Thank goodness she's not a police officer because you're going to see how she acted. And then the police came and I talked them off a ledge. You're going to see that, as well. Remember, these videos are always unscripted and posted in chronological order. Don't let the employees in the video say it didn't happen like that because that video's heavily edited because that's not true. You understand that you're probably just going to be on camera, you know? So, I wonder if it was this guy cuz he seemed to have the problem cuz the lady didn't. His boss, she didn't have a problem at all. She was like, "Nope, you can be up here as long as you want. I know you're here and XYZ." And he kind of started a problem. He's like, "Why are you taking pictures?" And she turned around and said, "No, he can take pictures. If he asks questions, call me." So, I'm assuming it's him and you guys should probably talk to his boss cuz she was very aware that I could record in here. >> Yeah, yeah, we are, too. That You know, >> I see. Um I mean, these rights are important, man, and rights are They're like muscles, right? If we don't use them, we lose them and you can go many places in this country and you can't even carry a firearm anymore, right? And we're just losing them left and right, so. >> Hey, what's the message you're trying to convey with your interviews and stuff that you're trying to do? >> Well, for these people, I'm actually trying to get I'm going to get just like I did with the US Probation. I'm trying to get a list of what they call re-entry resources so that when people I can put it out the information out there. So, when people are getting out and re-entering into society, they will have There's more resources now than there used to be 20 years ago, right? And people are getting clothes and shelter and halfway homes and help with cars and grant money for school and all this stuff, but people don't know it, right? And so, if we can get one central location like, "Hey, if you need resources, here's a huge list," which is what I'm compiling. Um I think that would be good for the people who are reentering. It'll give them a better chance at uh not offending again, right? The recidivism I don't know if you know what the recidivism rate in just the US alone is, but Oregon's pretty bad. California's even worse. Arizona's horrible. So, um federally we have a recidivism rate where prisons, jails, youth authorities are revolving door, and individuals are getting no help for a long time. Now, it's out there, so that's what that's what I'm doing, so. Part of it. >> That's good history. Yeah. And that's noble, actually. >> Yeah, it's it's important, right? I could say I'm catching predators, and somebody somebody hears a child predator, and I'm going to expose them when I see them. Yeah, you know, I understand people not wanting to be on camera, but we got to regulate our emotions, right? And understand that it's going to happen, you know, when you sign up for these jobs, like people are going to come, they're going to record. And it's their right. For instance, right? Say I was a kid who was touched by one of these employees or maybe in the state facilities and there's a lot of those lawsuits going on now, right? And and say I was scared to death of these people and so I wanted to come bring a camera and record my interaction with them. >> Yeah. >> You know, and they're going to call the police on this guy and get him and try to get him in trouble for exercising our first amendment right because something happened to him. It's just a crazy thought process, so I don't understand it. And um, you know, make yourself look unprofessional. One, they didn't even ask me to leave. They sent these people up here and we talked and they're like, "Yeah, we understand. You can be here. You can record. We know." So, now what I was doing is I've asked a couple people and was like, "Where is the lady who was up here?" cuz I told her I was going to get records. She said, "Let me know when you're ready." and she's going to come back. So, now I'm at the point where I'm trying to file the records request. So, the front guy said, "You don't do it here." but the law says you can do it in person here. So, once I do that, I'm gone. I'm done, right? But I need to do the records request before I go. If they're going to deny me from their boss and not like the little desk guy, that's fine. They can do that and then, you know, I'll take my action from there. And that's part of what I'm going to get in the records request. Now, when a privately owned building leases out to a public entity, for instance, if the police department was privately owned, right? They sign part of the lease and an understanding that the building will be open to members of the public from that your open hours and and people have a right to come there. So, it doesn't matter if it's private I know people confuse it. I don't just because I've studied these laws extensively and I know them like the back of my hand. And this is that actually it's not a huge case. It's not like ninth circuit or or supreme court. But, it's the Oregon State Appellate Court that ruled on this in 2024. But, replaying it and hearing that cop say psych like that after he said I have some homework to do, basically saying I ain't going to do no homework on it. I don't care what law you're talking about. Whatever. I realized they didn't do as good as I thought they did. Now, I was calm and nice and kind of soft with these officers and explain the law to them. And that's why I was able to talk them off the ledge and they just went ahead and left. They didn't want any other part of it. And also the public employees weren't sitting there complaining. If I would have told these cops, well, you ain't going to arrest me from this building. You ain't going to trespass me from this building. Or I have a right to be here and I don't care what you say. Or just said, you know what? I ain't here to talk to you guys. I don't answer questions. I believe they would have taken it a step further. Now, it wouldn't have changed the legalities of it, no matter what I said. If I'm there recording doing a story for news purposes, it does not change the legalities, no matter what my words are to these officers regarding what they're saying to me. But, it would have brought their ego in. It would have brought their superiority complexes and or inferiority complexes or whatever. It just would have brought their emotions into the equation and I believe at that point they absolutely would have reacted or acted based on the way they were feeling emotionally and that would have been the problem. So, I don't think they did great. I think I did a good job at talking them off the ledge is what happened. And this is the first place I had stopped in Salem. So, [snorts] I wasn't going too hard. I was really trying to feel the cops out and see what they actually knew and where their training was at. Right here, I realized they knew nothing. And then the next video that I go to right after this one gets way more crazier and you guys will see that here in the near future. Let's go ahead and get back to the video. >> Goodness. I would call it re-entry efforts. Is that what you guys call it? Like resources, like a list of resources that is available to previously incarcerated individuals. So, I'm looking for a list of re-entry efforts. Or resources. Re-entry resources. >> I can think of Yep, we could call it So, before I write anything down, I want to make sure it makes sense to you. We could call a list of any transition or re-entry related resources. Transition is one of the words that we would use for a youth like leaving close custody, like a youth correctional facility and going back to the community. >> Okay. >> The term we often use for that is transition. So, we could say transition re-entry and that would probably be most inclusive. >> Okay, perfect. >> Does that work for you? >> Yep, that's fine. >> Okay, so any transition and re-entry related services. >> Yep. >> I really should have picked pencil so I don't make mistakes.
